Privacy by architecture

Is Zolash private? Yes — by architecture.

Zolash keeps your meeting content on your device. The recording, the transcript, the summary, and the AI that produces them all run and stay on your machine — they never leave it and never reach us. That's not a privacy policy that could change; it's how the product is built.

Available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Nothing uploaded.

The on-device boundary

Everything inside this line happens on your machine and never crosses it:

🎙 Recording 🧠 On-device transcription + AI 💾 Your local files

Your meeting content stays entirely within this boundary. Only three narrow, non-content paths ever reach the network — listed below.

The architecture

Every step happens on your device.

Most notetakers do the hard parts — transcription and AI — on their own servers, which means your conversation makes a round trip through their cloud. Zolash does all four steps locally, so there's no round trip to make.

01

Capture

Zolash records your device's own audio — no bot in the call, no upload. The audio file is written straight to your disk.

02

Transcription

The on-device model turns that audio into a transcript with speaker labels. The recording never leaves the machine to be transcribed.

03

Summary & AI

A meeting-tuned model runs locally to draft summaries, action items, and answers to your questions. No cloud inference, ever.

04

Storage

Everything lands as local files you own — readable formats, on a disk you control, deletable in one place, by you.

Zolash — everything stays on your machine

Recording On-device model → transcript + summary Your local files

No meeting content leaves the boundary.

Cloud notetakers — the round trip you don't control

Recording Uploaded to a vendor's servers ⚠ Processed off your device, then sent back

Your content becomes their cloud data.

Full disclosure

The only three things that touch the network.

We won't claim "not a single byte" — that wouldn't be true of any licensed app. So here's the precise, complete list. None of these three paths carries your meeting content.

License & billing check

A periodic check that your license is valid — the same as any paid desktop app.

Your license key and account status. No meeting audio, transcript, or summary.

Calendar sync (opt-in)

If you connect a calendar, Zolash reads event titles and times to label meetings.

A calendar authorization you grant and can revoke. No recording or note content is uploaded to do this.

Exports & integrations (you trigger)

When you choose to push a summary to Slack, Notion, or another tool, it goes where you send it.

Only the specific note you export, only when you click. Nothing is sent automatically or in the background.

Everything else — audio, transcripts, summaries, chat, and the AI processing behind them — stays on your device.

No cloud inference

The AI runs where your data already is.

Cloud notetakers send your transcript to a server to summarize it. Zolash runs a meeting-tuned model on your own machine instead. The work happens on-device, so there's nothing to upload to get a summary, an action list, or an answer to a question.

No training on your data

Your meetings don't feed a model.

The model is the same for everyone and doesn't learn from your conversations. Because your content never reaches us, it can't be used to train anything, be reviewed by staff, or show up in someone else's results. There is no cloud copy to repurpose.

Your files, your formats

Local files you own — and can leave with.

Your meetings are stored on your disk in open, readable formats. You can open them, back them up, move them to another machine, or delete them — without asking us and without an export queue. There's no lock-in, because there's no cloud holding your data hostage.

On-device is not the same as open source. Your data stays on your machine in formats you can read; the Zolash software itself is a paid, closed-source product.

on-device recording, transcription & AI

Privacy questions, answered plainly.

Is my meeting audio uploaded anywhere?

No. Your recording is written to your local disk and transcribed by the on-device model. The audio never leaves your machine to be processed, and we never receive it.

Does the model learn or train on my meetings?

No. There is no cloud inference and no training on your data. The model runs locally and is the same for every user — your conversations don't tune it, and they're never sent anywhere to do so.

Does Zolash work fully offline?

Yes. Once installed, recording, transcription, and summaries all work with no internet connection. The only things that ever use the network are the license check, opt-in calendar sync, and exports you trigger yourself.

What about the calendar and license checks — what do they send?

The license check sends your license key and account status so we can confirm your subscription. Calendar sync, if you enable it, reads event titles and times. Neither sends any recording, transcript, or summary. Both are the only routine network paths, and calendar sync is entirely optional.

If everything is local, does that mean Zolash is open source?

No — those are different things. “On-device” means your data stays on your machine. Zolash is a closed-source, paid product; your files are stored in open, readable formats you can inspect and move, but the software itself is proprietary.

Can I delete my data, and is anything kept on your side?

Your meetings live as local files, so deleting them is entirely in your hands — remove the files and they are gone. We hold no copy of your meeting content to delete, because we never received it.
